RangeHound Ballistics (“RangeHound,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the RangeHound Ballistics mobile app and website handle data.

1. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • The RangeHound Ballistics mobile app on iOS and Android

  • The website at https://www.rangehound.app

2. Data We Handle

We do not require account creation in the app.

We may handle the following data to provide app features:

  • Ballistics data you enter
    Rifle profiles, ammo/bullet selections, stage/target data, solver settings, and unit preferences.

  • Location data (when you choose to use current atmospherics)
    If you use weather/atmospherics fetch features, the app may access your device location (foreground only) and transmit location coordinates to a weather data provider to retrieve atmospheric conditions.

  • Bluetooth device data (optional hardware integration)
    If you connect supported BLE devices (for example weather meters), the app reads sensor data such as wind and environmental readings for ballistic calculations.

  • Motion/orientation sensor data (optional)
    If you use shot-angle features, the app may use accelerometer/gyroscope/magnetometer data to calculate angle/heading.

  • Purchase/transaction data
    If you purchase subscriptions or one-time unlocks, payment processing is handled by Apple App Store / Google Play. We do not receive your full payment card details.

  • Support communications
    If you email support, we receive the information you include in your message.

3. How Data Is Used

We use data only to:

  • Provide ballistic calculations and app functionality

  • Fetch and apply atmospherics when requested

  • Enable optional BLE integrations

  • Restore/validate purchases through platform billing services

  • Respond to support requests

4. Local Storage and Retention

Most app-entered ballistic data is stored locally on your device.
Short-lived cached atmospherics data may also be stored locally for performance/offline fallback.

You can remove local app data by deleting entries in the app or uninstalling the app.
Device backups managed by Apple/Google may retain app data according to your backup settings.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data.
We do not share data for third-party advertising.

We may disclose limited data only to service providers needed to run app features, such as:

  • Weather data API providers (for requested atmospherics lookups)

  • Apple / Google billing infrastructure (for purchases and restore)

  • Infrastructure providers used to host our website and support channels

6. Permissions and Controls

You can deny permissions (such as location, Bluetooth, or motion). Some related features may be unavailable, but core app functions remain usable with manual inputs.

7. Website Data

When you visit our website, our hosting platform may process standard technical data (such as IP address, browser/device information, and basic logs/cookies) to operate and secure the site.

8. Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards for the data we handle. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted at the same public URL with a revised Effective Date.
